TDSB featuring Nick Macedo

Soapbox Revolutionaries,
TDSB is back this week with a dope offering of poetic and lyrical rotundness. That's "round" and "fat" for the non English speakers. We are pleased to present Nick Macedo as our Featured Artist. Nick is fresh off a selection to Da Poetry Lounge's Slam Team and is taking this year hostage.

http://dippoetry.dipdive.com/ You all know I don't do hype. I say let the po' (poetry) speak for itself. Is this SPOKEN word or not? In homage to YouthSpeaks www.youthspeaks.org and the homie James Kass, "the next generation can speak for itself." Below are links to Nick's work off of youtube. Nick has the ability to communicate exuberance without the volume and intensity watering down the wordage.

Also, we have a special Guest Host, the most hustling in the game, the Diva herself H to the U-S-T-L-E. Charlene "Hustle Diva" Green http://hustledivaspeaks.com/default.aspx is holding down the ceremony mastering this installment of TDSB.

We can't give you a better offering then that, fresh poet, ill host, best audience in the biz. Remember, TDSB might just love you more than you love it.

Paz,

- TeamDSB

TDSB May 27, 2011

Soapbox Revolutionaries,

I apologize for the lag time in the post. The last TDSB was awesome (I will only use that word once per post, I promise). We were smaller in size but rich on talent and entertainment. The "Uncultivated Rabbits" did there thing. "ForWord" was in the house spreading some additional love and promoting their upcoming features in Los Angeles County. People got "Soaped", which is when someone calls you up on the mic to recite one of your own poems or songs without any forewarning. "V Rabbit" (Victoria) and "Big Brother/Biggs" (Tim Cheung) were amongst the first to ever get "Soaped" earlier in the month. The night had an arsenal of young talent and impressive "sharing." I even busted a surprise Feature for the Soapbox Revolutionaries as a tip of the hat to the people before I peace to Argentina for my yearly, "Artistic Journey: Self discovery of Art through deeper seeking of God." I just made that up but its basically the idea.

Holy stage productions Batman...TDSB is putting on a Spoken Word/Theater production called, "Freedom is a Voice", which is taken from the closing poem that I do at the end of the open mic. Details will follow about this. What you need to know right now is that Auditions are coming up in a month. Check out the Fan Page for more information http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/event.php?eid=113641172057235. We are featuring 6 Poets, 2 Dancers, and 2 Musicians. So if you are interested go to the site and set up an interview with Kasi. It's a paid gig... but more importantly it is a ministry to the community via art.

The night finished with a healthy dose of people getting "SPAT" on after hours. This is not what you think...this is (the ever inventive) Biggs version of tag, only with poetry and song. You get a card and you get to "spit" on people. They in turn have to spit a verse, a poem, a song on the spot, recorded onto video. It's crazy and ill. Check the link for videos http://www.youtube.com/user/BigBrothaaa. Some cats even recited a Rudy Franciso poem off the dome, bananners folks! I hit up Rudy and he was pretty impressed.

Well stay tuned for more information about the TDSB and you can check us out on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and whatever else is out to keep us from interacting face-to-face (insert half joking smiley icon).

I'm off  to Buenos Aires!

Check for your guest host's Hustle Diva on the 10th and DeAntwann Johnson on the 24th.

Paz,
